Lavrov: "Demilitarization" and "denazification" of Ukraine are mandatory conditions for ending war. VIDEO
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said Russia would be ready to end the war only if a number of conditions are met.
He made this statement in an interview with Russian media, according to Censor.NET.
According to him, this position was set out by Vladimir Putin back in June 2024.
"Among the absolutely indispensable conditions for a settlement are ‘demilitarization,’ the removal of any threats to Russia, including by preventing Ukraine’s pull into NATO, ensuring the rights of Russian speakers and of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, and there is also the demand for ‘denazification,’" Lavrov said.
Russia's demands
In August 2025, the Russian Foreign Ministry announced its demands for ending the war, which include:
-
recognition of the "territorial realities";
-
"denazification" and "demilitarization" of Ukraine;
-
a neutral, non-aligned, and non-nuclear status;
-
guarantees of the rights of ethnic Russians and Russian speakers;
-
an end to the "persecution" of the "canonical" Orthodox Church
