Gunner from Yak-52 aircraft of Ukrainian Air Force shot down Russian "Shahed" over Odesa. VIDEO

A gunner aboard a Yak-52 light aircraft of the Ukrainian Air Force shot down a Russian Shahed kamikaze drone over the coast of Odesa with small arms fire.

According to Censor.NET, this is another example of the unconventional tactics used by Ukrainian defenders in their fight against enemy UAVs.

This is not the first time that light piston aircraft have been used to hunt Russian drones.

Since the Yak-52 has no standard armament, the role of the gunner is performed by a serviceman sitting in the pilot-instructor's seat with the cockpit canopy open and firing small arms.

The enemy has repeatedly acknowledged the loss of its Orlan and ZALA drones, which were shot down in a similar manner.
