Russia has amassed more than 721,000 soldiers against Ukraine – Syrskyi. VIDEO

Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi said that the offensive grouping of the Russian army in Ukraine numbers 721,300 soldiers.

He said this in an interview with The Times, Censor.NET reports.

Russia’s offensive plans

According to him, the Russian command has not abandoned its plans to seize Ukrainian territories and continues to use the tactics of massive infantry assaults.

"As last year, they are using the tactics of a thousand cuts, trying to advance as deep as possible into our defence," the commander-in-chief said.

Technological threat: focus on millions of drones

In addition to its manpower advantage, Russia’s rapid militarisation and scaling up of unmanned systems production is becoming a serious challenge for Ukraine’s Defence Forces. According to the Ukrainian command, the occupiers are now actively adopting Ukraine’s experience in drone warfare and putting it on an industrial footing.

  • Syrskyi noted that as of June 2026, Russian troops use about 6,000–7,000 FPV drones on the battlefield every day.

According to available intelligence, by the end of this year, the occupation forces plan to increase this figure to 33,000 drones on the battlefield, which will require Ukraine and its Western partners to provide a symmetrical response in developing electronic warfare (EW) systems and their own unmanned aerial systems.
