Poland plans to produce hull designs for F-16 fighters
The Polish plant organizes the production of F-16 aircraft structures until the end of 2024.
This was reported to the PAP agency by the director of the PZL Mielec factory, Yanush Zakretskyi, on Wednesday, Censor.NET informs.
"Ultimately, PZL Mielec will produce 70 to 80 percent of the F-16 airframe," Zakretskyi said.
The company intends to implement this plan by the end of next year.
"Production of F-16 Block 70/72 structures (the newest modification of the fighter - ed.) at the PZL Mielec enterprise is carried out in a comprehensively modernized workshop with a total area of 14,000 square meters. Previously, military jets were produced here," the director noted.
"I am glad that Lockheed Martin assessed the competence of our employees and the potential of this location and decided to locate the production of F-16 structures here. This is also proof of Lockheed Martin's commitment to the development of PZL Mielec and the industrial potential of our country," he said.
Also remind, earlier in the White House it was reported that the USA supports the decision to provide F-16 to Ukraine after the completion of pilot training.
President Zelenskyy, after meeting with the Prime Minister of the Netherlands Rutte, said that the transfer of 42 F-16 aircraft to Ukraine after the training of our pilots is being discussed. The Netherlands and Denmark undertake to transfer F-16 aircraft to Ukraine. Ukrainian pilots have already started training in Denmark.
The Prime Minister of Denmark Frederiksen said that the country will provide 19 planes. Denmark plans to send the first 6 units to Ukraine closer to the New Year.
70 pilots and aviators are already undergoing training in Denmark. According to Defense Minister Reznikov, the minimum period of preparation is 6 months. At the same time, the commander of the Air Force stated that two pilots would be able to master the F-16 in four months.
The Air Force stated that 128 fighter jets are needed for air superiority in Ukraine.
The Pentagon said that the US is ready to train Ukrainian pilots on the F-16 if European countries do not have time. At the same time, the EU can compensate part of the costs of countries that transfer F-16s to Ukraine.
Greece will also join the training of Ukrainian pilots.
In Romania, they said that the training of Ukrainian pilots on the F-16 in Romania can start in a few days, the last obstacle is the preparation of the necessary documents.
