Ukraine needs full confiscation of Russian assets, interest is not enough, - Ministry of Justice

Ukraine needs a complete confiscation of frozen Russian assets, any alternatives can only be an interim solution and are not able to generate enough funds.
This was stated by Deputy Minister of Justice of Ukraine Iryna Mudra, Censor.NET reports with reference to Reuters.
It is noted that according to Ukraine's estimates, $400 billion will be needed to restore the country. This amount could double if compensation for war victims is taken into account.
Mudra said that the government welcomes the idea of introducing a tax on frozen assets of the Russian Federation, but considers it an insufficient measure.
According to her, there was "no alternative" to the decision to completely confiscate the assets and transfer them to Ukraine.
Mudra noted that such a decision requires political will, and therefore "it is especially dangerous if additional initiatives are considered a successful solution to all problems."
"Any alternatives, no matter how sincere and noble they are, generate insufficient funds and can only be used as an intermediate and fairly quick option to raise several billion for the urgent needs of Ukraine's recovery," she explained.
