Nikiforov on Zelenskyy and Trump’s conversation: There is principled agreement of both sides to meet. Possibility of visit to Ukraine was discussed

Телефонна розмова Зеленського з Трампом

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy and US presidential candidate Donald Trump discussed the possibility of Trump's visit to Ukraine in a telephone conversation, but it is too early to talk about specifics.

Zelenskyy's spokesman, Serhii Nikiforov, said this during a telethon, Censor.NET reports citingInterfax-Ukraine.

"Let's just say that both sides agreed in principle to the meeting. We discussed certain timeframes when this meeting should take place. But it is still very, very early to talk about it. The teams will work and agree on schedules and details when it is possible," Nikiforov said.

Asked whether the possibility of Trump's visit to Ukraine had been discussed, he said that "it was indeed discussed. It is important to emphasise this. (We discussed. - Ed.) when it should take place and where. But the specifics are still very premature - the format, time and place."

Zelenskyy's spokesman also said that the parties discussed the Russian army's attack on Mykolaiv yesterday and the attack on the Okhmatdyt children's hospital on 8 July. At the same time, Zelenskyy urged Trump not to believe representatives of those countries who try to justify Putin's actions.

"There are no excuses here, of course. He is an ordinary murderer, the president said so in a telephone conversation," Nikiforov said.

For his part, according to Nikiforov, "Trump also said a very interesting thing: he said not to believe the fake news that his election victory could be beneficial to Russia."

As a reminder, Zelenskyy said after his conversation with Trump that they had agreed to discuss in person "what steps can make the peace fair and truly lasting." Trump promises to end the war in Ukraine after talking to Zelenskyy
