Fatal road accident in Khmelnytskyi: driver arrested for 60 days without bail

On 20 November, the Khmelnytskyi City District Court imposed a pre-trial restraint of 60 days in custody without the right to post bail on the driver suspected of committing the accident that killed three women at a public transport stop in Khmelnytskyi on 18 November.

According to the correspondent, the suspect will be held in custody until 16 January 2025. This decision was made by the judge of the Khmelnytskyi City District Court Oleksandr Dziubak.
During the court hearing, investigator Maksym Korolchuk and prosecutor Anton Wendel requested that the suspect be held in custody without bail.
The suspect said in the courtroom that he pleaded guilty. His lawyer, Oleksandr Polishchuk, did not deny the suspect's words. He also said that he would not appeal the court's verdict.
As the Suspilne correspondent learned in the courtroom, the suspect is from Zhmerynka, Vinnytsia region, registered in Lviv region, but temporarily resides in Khmelnytskyi. He has a university degree and works as a freelancer. He has not been brought to criminal responsibility before, but in the past year he has been brought to administrative responsibility for speeding five times.
