EU on Russia’s intercontinental ballistic missile strike on Ukraine: Putin seeks escalation, not peace

Russia's use of an intercontinental ballistic missile against Ukraine is another escalation on the part of the Kremlin and indicates that Russian dictator Vladimir Putin does not intend to conduct peace talks, but is playing a "nuclear gambit."
This was stated by the European Commission spokesman Peter Stano during a briefing in Brussels, Censor.NET reports citing the EP.
According to him, the EU has seen reports of Russia's use of such missiles and is currently assessing the full picture.
"Obviously, such attacks would mean another clear escalation on Putin's part. And over the last period of time, we have actually seen no shortage of signs of further escalation by Putin," Stano said.
According to the EU spokesperson, the attacks on Ukraine's energy infrastructure are not a sign that the Russian dictator is seeking de-escalation.
Putin is playing the nuclear game again with Russia's newly updated nuclear doctrine, he has brought North Korean soldiers onto European soil, so these are all clear signs of a desire for escalation rather than a real search for peace," Stano emphasized.
He added that if the evidence of Russia's use of an intercontinental ballistic missile is confirmed, "it will be another quantitative and qualitative change in this approach and a clear sign of escalation."
