Register of missing persons includes more than 55 thousand people - Dobroserdov

55 тисяч осіб у реєстрі зниклих безвісти: дані станом на листопад

As of November 2024, more than 55 thousand people were registered in the Unified Register of Persons Missing in Special Circumstances.

According to Censor.NET, this was announced by the Commissioner for Missing Persons, Artur Dobroserdov, on television.

Changes to payments for families of missing persons

Dobroserdov reminded that on November 1, the government adopted amendments to the regulations governing payments to the families of military personnel. From now on, a court decision to declare a person dead may become the basis for a one-time financial assistance.

"We can already see that there are already such court decisions and that such payments are being made on the basis of these court decisions. According to our registry, we currently have more than 55,000 missing persons on the wanted list, and we have information about 641 such decisions issued by national courts that declared a person dead after examining the evidence provided by citizens," the Commissioner said.

How families can get help

Families who have previously been denied due to a lack of evidence of the death of a soldier can go to court. To do so, they need to submit documents at the place of registration or the last known place of residence of the missing person. It is also necessary to provide evidence and involve witnesses to confirm the fact of death.

Once the court decision comes into force, if it is not appealed, there are grounds for pensions or other types of benefits.
