Russian hackers attack Defense Ministry services every week - Chernohorenko

Chernohorenko on enemy cyber attacks

Every week, hackers from the aggressor country of Russia conduct cyberattacks on the services of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine. A Cyber Incident Response Center was established to counter their attacks.

Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine Kateryna Chernohorenko said this during a telethon, RBC-Ukraine reports, Censor.NET informs.

The official said that the Cyber Incident Response Center was launched six months ago. It is engaged in round-the-clock monitoring of cyber threats, because, as Chernohorenko noted, cyberspace is another battlefield for the enemy against Ukraine.

"Indeed, the frequency of attacks on our systems is constant and depends on how many resources the enemy directs... Every week we face enemy attacks. They change their pattern, and we analyze it all. The Center analyzes and accumulates this experience," said the Deputy Minister.

Chernohorenko notes that Ukraine has learned to model the next cyberattack of the enemy, and is constantly looking for potential weaknesses and eliminating them.

Ukraine also cooperates with the North Atlantic Alliance to jointly protect against cyber threats.

Russian cyberattack

On December 19, it became known about a large-scale failure in the operation of state registries due to a Russian cyberattack. Later, Deputy Prime Minister Olha Stefanishyna said that the consequences of the attack were being studied, but no personal data leakage was recorded. The key registries are expected to resume operation within two weeks.
