Ukraine has deprived Putin of one of his levers of influence on Europe by suspending gas transit - Sybiha
Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha believes that Europe and the world will be safer without Russian gas.
He said this on the social network X, Censor.NET reports.
"Ukraine has not just cut off the transit of Russian gas. We have deprived Putin of one of the last levers of influence on Europe and the ability to use energy as a weapon. Europe and the world will be safer without Russian gas, oil and other dependencies, as well as without Russia itself," he stressed.
As a reminder, at 07:00 on 1 January 2025, the transportation of Russian natural gas through Ukraine was suspended in the interests of national security. The Cabinet of Ministers said that Ukraine had informed the European Commission of the suspension of gas transit in accordance with the established procedure. European countries have prepared. Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico, in turn, assures that stopping Russian gas transit through Ukraine "will have drastic consequences" for everyone in the EU.
