In Sumy TCR, military beat civilian: he died in hospital from injuries. Police investigate "negligent homicide"
In Sumy, a conflict occurred between a military and a local resident on the territory of the city's TRC. The latter died in hospital as a result of a head injury. The police opened a criminal investigation.

According to the local publication SumyToday, 40-year-old Yevhen Kryvodub died of a head injury he received on December 29, 2024, at the Sumy City Territorial Center for Recruitment and Social Support.
According to her, on December 29, Yevhen called his common-law wife from an unknown number and said that he had been taken to the TCR, had already passed the MMC and would be sent to war. There was no more contact with him. The next day, when the family called that number, they were told that Yevhen had allegedly drunk half a liter of vodka, felt sick and was taken to the hospital.
The woman began to look for Yevhen in medical institutions and found him in the regional hospital. There she was told that Yevhen had been brought in with a head injury and was in a coma after surgery.
On December 31, at half past eight in the morning, the hospital called and informed her that Yevhen had died.
According to Suspilne, the deceased man's hands or face were not beaten, but there was a large bruise on his back.
What do the Sumy TCR and SS say?
"On the New Year's Eve, a conflict occurred on the territory of the Sumy City TCR and SS between two men who were not representatives of the TCR, as a result of which one inflicted bodily harm on the other. The victim was taken to a medical facility by an ambulance called by the duty shift. The investigation is ongoing.
The staff of the Sumy Regional TCR and SS fully cooperates with the investigation and assists the police who are working to establish all the circumstances of the incident," said Oleksandr Bondarenko, Head of Public Relations of the Sumy Regional TCR and SS.
Police version of the conflict
"The police have identified the person who inflicted fatal injuries on a resident of Sumy. The 40-year-old victim's partner filed a statement with the police about the beating. According to her, the man was taken to the hospital with injuries. The police investigative team was working at the scene," the police said in a statement.
During the pre-trial investigation, law enforcement officers found that a sudden conflict arose between a local resident and a serviceman.
"In the midst of the quarrel, the serviceman lost his temper and inflicted bodily harm on the man. The victim was hospitalized, but died in the hospital from his injuries. Currently, police officers have already served the attacker a notice of suspicion under Part 1 of Article 119 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (negligent homicide - ed.). The investigation is ongoing," the police added.
