Bakanov must be in jail - "servant of people" Bezuhla

Servant of the People People’s Deputy Mariana Bezuhla

Servant of the People People's Deputy Mariana Bezuhla criticized the lack of real changes in the reform of the Security Service of Ukraine and accused former SSU Head Ivan Bakanov of sabotage.

She announced this in her telegram channel, Censor.NET reports.

According to her, neither the SSU nor the Ukrainian parliament were interested in reforming the special service, and earlier she was forced to cooperate with European structures to promote changes.

"The EU and NATO offices have become completely indifferent to security sector reform, limiting themselves to nominal meetings. To ensure basic accountability, they still accept routine "yarns" from SSU officials - and without any complaints. It used to be different, but the war and geopolitical shifts have significantly devalued these two structures," Bezuhla wrote.

She also noted that the SSU is currently being reformed only partially thanks to the head of the special service, Vasyl Malyuk.

The People's Deputy added that the former head of the SSU Ivan Bakanov should be in pre-trial detention together with the former commander of the Territorial Defense Forces Yurii Haluushkin and the former commander of the Joint Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Yurii Sodol.

"And by the way, I believe that Bakanov should be in jail, as well as Halushkin and Sodol. Where is Bakanov, where is Sodol? And where is General Tkachuk?" the People's Deputy noted.

Ivan Bakanov

Ivan Bakanov was the head of the SSU from 2019 to 2022. In July 2022, he was dismissed by a decree of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, and later the Verkhovna Rada supported his resignation.

Bakanov was dismissed under Article 47 of the Armed Forces' disciplinary statute on "Dereliction of duty that resulted in human casualties or other grave consequences."

Afterwards, the former head of the Security Service of Ukraine confirmed that he had received a lawyer's certificate in Poltava region.

It was reported that Bakanov was paid almost half a million hryvnias when he was dismissed from the SSU.

Censor.NET Editor-in-Chief Yurii Butusov explained why Bakanov should be in prison and responsible for high treason and has no right to be free.
