A combat medic, cardiologist of the highest category, poet Volodymyr Volikov died in the war.
According to Censor.NET, this was reported by his colleague Viktor Zaichuk on his Facebook page.
"Sad news, today my brother-in-arms, a military volunteer, a medic, just a wonderful person, was killed by a bullet. Rest in peace in the meadows of Svarozhich," the soldier wrote.
When the full-scale war began, Volodymyr Volikov joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He served in eastern Ukraine and had the call sign Skif.
In 2024, he published the book "Poetry Scorched by War" ("ADEF-Ukraine" Publishing House).
"The war left its mark on all of us. And we all became different. And my poems have become different. Yes, they contain love, passion, and the belief that light will conquer darkness, but these poems are united by our only common pain: WAR. This book is autobiographical. I tried to convey in it what I went through myself and to light a flame of hope and faith in everyone's heart that the darkest times are always before the dawn, and it is not beauty that will save our world. No. Our world will be saved by LOVE," reads the book's annotation.
As a reminder, the commander of the 1st Marine Battalion of the 37th Separate Marine Brigade, Senior Lieutenant Volodymyr Stohniy, call sign "Zolotyi", was killed in action for Ukraine.
