Britain may send 10 thousand peacekeepers to Ukraine

The number of peacekeeping contingent for Ukraine, which the UK is ready to provide, "will definitely exceed 10 thousand people".

According to Censor.NET, citing Yevropeiska Pravda, sources in the British government told The Times.

Thus, according to the interlocutors of The Times, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer said at a meeting of the leaders of the "coalition of the willing" on March 15 that the final number of peacekeeping troops for Ukraine would "definitely exceed the 10,000 people" that Britain is ready to provide.

It is also noted that at the meeting on Saturday, London managed to enlist the support of "significantly more" countries than the three that had supported sending ground troops before.

The Times writes that a total of about 35 countries at the meeting on Saturday agreed to provide weapons, logistics and intelligence support to the potential "peacekeeping" mission.

However, it is expected that Britain and France will provide the bulk of the troops.

"It will be a significant force with a significant number of countries contributing troops and a much larger group contributing in other ways," another source told The Times.

Peacekeeping forces in Ukraine

Earlier it was reported that French President Emmanuel Macron would discuss with Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk the deployment of peacekeeping forces in Ukraine in the event of an agreement to end the current phase of the war between Russia and Ukraine.

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk denied that Polish troops would be sent to Ukraine after the ceasefire.

EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas assessed the possibility of sending a European peacekeeping mission to Ukraine.

Italian Defense Minister Guido Crozetto expressed his readiness to support a peacekeeping mission to Ukraine if peace is achieved.

In turn, Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani called these discussions "premature."

Germany, together with its partners, will consider the possible deployment of peacekeepers in Ukraine as part of "security guarantees" only after the conditions are created, namely a ceasefire with Russia.

The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry has stated that several countries are currently considering participation in a potential contingent of Western allies in Ukraine. However, specific plans for the deployment of foreign troops are still under discussion.
