More than 300 Russians are in Pokrovsk, trying to reach northern outskirts of city, - Airborne Assault Troops
Over the past few days, Russian occupiers have intensified their efforts to penetrate Pokrovsk using light vehicles via the southern outskirts.
This was reported by the 7th Corps of the Airborne Assault Troops, according to Censor.NET.
What is known?
The Airborne Assault Troops noted that the Russians took advantage of unfavourable weather conditions, in particular thick fog. This reduces the possibilities for aerial reconnaissance and striking the enemy in open terrain.
"There are currently more than 300 Russians in the city. Their goal remains unchanged – to reach the northern borders of Pokrovsk with a further attempt to surround the agglomeration," the statement said.
Defence forces continue to detect and destroy enemy groups in urban areas even in low visibility conditions.
Since the beginning of November, Ukrainian defenders have eliminated 162 invaders in Pokrovsk and wounded 39.
"Various units of the Defence Forces continue to be involved in clearing the city, including the USF, assault and airborne assault units, the SOF, the SSU, the National Guard, the National Police and others," they concluded.
What preceded it?
Earlier, Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi stated that the goal of Russian troops was to surround Pokrovsk and neighbouring cities, cutting off logistics for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The enemy will attempt to carry out a "final manoeuvre" to capture the entire Donetsk region.
