Stefanchuk says Ukraine ready for EU accession by 2027

Chairman of Ukraine’s Verkhovna Rada Ruslan Stefanchuk has confirmed Ukraine’s readiness to meet all necessary conditions for accession to the European Union by 2027.
As reported by Censor.NET, this was stated in a Facebook post by the politician following a video conference with the leadership of the Dutch parliament.
The talks were held with the President of the Senate of the Netherlands, Mei Li Vos, and Speaker of the House of Representatives Martin Bosma. During the dialogue, the parties discussed Ukraine’s European integration course and further support from the Netherlands.
According to Stefanchuk, Ukraine is determined to complete all necessary reforms within the set timeframe and expects an active position from partners in advancing the negotiation process on membership.
Ukraine counts on support from the Netherlands
The speaker stressed that Kyiv highly appreciates the Netherlands’ consistent position on Ukraine’s European integration. He underlined the importance of political support to accelerate accession talks.
"I confirmed that we are ready to implement all necessary reforms to complete preparations for EU accession by 2027 and count on the Netherlands’ support in unlocking the negotiation process as soon as possible," Stefanchuk said.
In turn, the Dutch side positively assessed the work of the Verkhovna Rada, which continues to adopt the necessary decisions even amid the full-scale war.
EU does not set a specific accession timeline
At the same time, the European Union is refraining from setting a clear date for Ukraine’s possible membership. Representatives of European institutions emphasize that the process depends on the implementation of reforms and the EU’s own political readiness.
EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas said that Ukraine’s accession is a two-way process. Ukraine must implement the required changes, while the European Union must ensure the appropriate conditions for enlargement.
Earlier, European officials also noted that the possibility of Ukraine joining the EU by January 1, 2027, which had been mentioned in some initiatives, does not currently look realistic. At the same time, Ukraine’s membership in the EU is seen as an important element of the future security architecture.
