No country in world can currently guarantee 100% defence against combined attacks, - Ihnat

Russia’s massive air strikes: what is the Air Force saying about the effectiveness of air defence?

Currently, no country in the world can guarantee the downing of 100% of targets by air defense forces.

Head of the Communications Department of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Yuriy Ihnat stated this on the air of "Novyny Live", Censor.NET reports.

"Employing such a large number of means with different flight parameters, the enemy also uses weather conditions. ... It is much more difficult for those means that require a visual reference to the target to operate in clouds and thunderstorms.

Therefore, today it is impossible to guarantee that everything will be shot down, neither in the Middle East nor here (in Ukraine). The maximum possible number is shot down if there is potentially an air defense system, the same Patriot, in the right place and at the right time," he noted.

According to Ihnat, it is impossible to protect Kyiv with a single battery.

"You cannot cover Kyiv with a single battery, because it is a huge city. The Patriot system looks only in one direction, where its radar is aimed, and something else can fly in from behind," he added.

Background

Earlier, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia stated that they are planning new strikes on Kyiv and urged foreigners and diplomats to leave the capital of Ukraine.
