Ukraine is ready to move towards mutually beneficial relations with Georgia, - Zelenskyy

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy congratulated Georgia on Independence Day and announced the readiness to build mutually beneficial relations between the countries.

"Our nations are united by long-standing ties and a common understanding of the value of freedom and dignity. I wish Georgia peace, unity, strength, and prosperity. We count on mutually beneficial relations, and Ukraine is ready to move in this direction," he noted.
Background
- Earlier this year, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a meeting with Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Kobakhidze on the sidelines of an international summit in Yerevan. Despite the complex political context, the parties announced their readiness to maintain a dialogue.
- At the same time, in 2024, a number of representatives of the ruling party of Georgia, in particular Kobakhidze, were included in the sanctions lists of Ukraine for a period of 10 years.
- The Georgian side, after contacts with the Ukrainian leadership, declares its striving for a gradual normalization of relations between the states.
