Russian soldier tried to surrender but was attacked by his own side’s FPV drone: 42nd Separate Mechanised Brigade troops rescue wounded occupier using UGV. VIDEO

Troops from the motorised infantry battalion of the 42nd Separate Mechanised Brigade rescued a wounded Russian serviceman who was trying to surrender but came under attack from an FPV drone. Ukrainian defenders used an unmanned ground vehicle (UGV) to evacuate the occupier.

As Censor.NET reports, footage of the unusual rescue operation was released by servicemen of the 42nd Separate Mechanised Brigade.

According to the Ukrainian troops, after a Russian dugout was destroyed, an occupier emerged from the shelter and decided to surrender.

The released footage shows the Russian soldier raising his hands to signal his intention to surrender. He then begins following a Ukrainian drone.

However, while attempting to reach Ukrainian positions, the Russian soldier was attacked by an FPV drone. According to the video’s authors, the strike was ordered by the Russian command, which refused to allow its serviceman to surrender.

The occupier was wounded in the attack and remained on the battlefield.

Servicemen from the motorised infantry battalion of the 42nd Separate Mechanised Brigade came to his aid. Ukrainian troops used a UGV to reach the wounded man and evacuate him from the dangerous area.

The video shows the troops arriving at the Russian soldier’s location on a UGV, helping him and placing him on the platform for transport.

The Ukrainian defenders then evacuate the wounded occupier from the battlefield.

The unit reported that the Russian serviceman was successfully rescued and taken prisoner. Ukrainian troops thus not only saved his life but also increased the number of prisoners available for exchanges to bring Ukrainian defenders home from Russian captivity.
