In the temporarily occupied city of Oleshky, authorities plan to distribute humanitarian aid to local residents and ensure that anyone who wishes to leave can do so. Twenty-five buses with a total capacity of 750 seats have been prepared for the evacuation, as well as ambulances for people with limited mobility.
According to Censor.NET, this was reported by Dmytro Lubinets, the Verkhovna Rada’s Human Rights Commissioner.
"Everything is currently well prepared. We are delivering humanitarian aid to the residents of Oleshky. Our main goal is to ensure that this aid reaches every person who needs it," Lubinets said.
According to the ombudsman, special attention will be given to the elderly, people with disabilities, and those who, due to health issues or other circumstances, are unable to care for themselves.
Evacuation of civilians
A separate aspect of the mission is ensuring the departure of civilians. Under the agreement, assistance will be provided both to those who wish to leave for territory controlled by Ukraine and to those who intend to travel to Russia.
According to the organizers, 25 buses with a total capacity of 750 seats have been prepared, as well as ambulances for people with limited mobility.
"Another equally important aspect of our work is ensuring that the civilian population can leave. Anyone who wishes to leave Oleshky will be given the opportunity to do so safely. At the same time, those who have decided to stay may remain and will receive all necessary humanitarian support," Lubinets added.
The Ombudsman emphasized the importance of both sides observing the ceasefire. He also thanked the Ukrainian Defense Forces for their support of the mission.
Lubinets highlighted the role of Melania Trump
Journalists from Ukraine, the United States, and Russia participated in covering the humanitarian operation.
The Ombudsman separately thanked U.S. First Lady Melania Trump for her mediation and coordination. According to him, it was precisely thanks to her initiative and support that this operation was made possible.
Lubinets expressed hope that the experience gained from this mission could be used to organize future humanitarian operations.
