During the ceasefire in connection with the humanitarian mission in Oleshky, Ukrainian military personnel also evacuated 167 civilians from the right bank of the Kherson region.
This was reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, according to Censor.NET.
Rescue of residents on the right bank of the Kherson region
"During the ceasefire, which was introduced in specific areas of the Kherson region to facilitate the humanitarian mission in Oleshky, the Ukrainian Defence Forces took advantage of the security situation to evacuate residents from the right bank of the Kherson region," the statement said.
This refers to settlements in the territory controlled by Ukraine along the Dnipro River, which were subjected to daily shelling by Russian occupiers. The General Staff reported that those who had previously been unable to leave the dangerous areas were able to do so.
Thus, civil-military cooperation units of the "South" Military Group, in collaboration with local authorities, evacuated 167 civilians to safer locations in the Kherson region . Among them were 22 children and 21 people with reduced mobility who required special care and assistance.
The complexity of the operation
The General Staff noted that the evacuation took place under extremely difficult and dangerous conditions. The routes passed through mined and damaged roads, as well as areas littered with burnt-out military vehicles and civilian cars. All of this significantly complicated movement and required particular caution and coordinated action from all units involved.
"Despite these risks, the top priority remains safeguarding the lives of the civilian population and providing assistance to those unable to leave dangerous areas on their own. Every person rescued is the result of joint efforts and coordinated interaction between all those involved in the humanitarian mission," the statement said.
The General Staff emphasised that units of the "South" Military Group are strictly and consistently adhering to the ceasefire in the area where the humanitarian mission is taking place.
