The head of one of the departments of the Southern Interregional Territorial Department of the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine was served a notice of suspicion of extortion and receipt of improper advantage (Part 3 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
This was reported by the Office of the Prosecutor General, Censor.NET reports.
As noted, the suspect extorted $10 thousand from a private entrepreneur for mitigating administrative sanctions for violating antitrust laws. In exchange for this amount, she promised to reduce the amount of fines from UAH 3.5 million to UAH 30 thousand and to delay the decision to put the company on the "black list", which would make it impossible to participate in future tenders.
The official was detained in accordance with Art. 208 of the CPC of Ukraine and a custodial detention was chosen as a measure of restraint with an alternative to bail.
