Eight children aged 6 to 16 years were returned to Ukraine from the occupied territories of Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Kherson regions and the Autonomous Republic of Crimea.
This was reported by the Ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets, Censor.NET reports.
"Children from Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Kherson regions and the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, who lived under the pressure of Russian occupation, have finally broken free. This was done as part of the implementation of the approved action plan of the President of Ukraine Bring Kids Back UA," he wrote.
It is noted that the returned children are between 6 and 16 years old. Some of the children have illnesses, so they were met in Ukraine with ambulances. Among those returned is a boy who, at the time of the Russian invasion, was in the Oleshky Orphanage, whose children were taken by the occupation authorities to Skadovsk and the Russian Federation.
According to Lubinets, family circumstances and the lack of prospects for a good future for the children prompted the adults who were in charge of the little Ukrainians to take decisive action - to return the children to the government-controlled territory.
Qatar helped to return the children
It should be noted that 7 children were returned with the involvement of the intermediary country Qatar. Another boy was returned through the humanitarian corridor.
But now these children will finally receive decent medical care, hug their parents and relatives and realize their plans.
Government agencies and civil society organizations will help families enroll their children in school, provide psychological and humanitarian assistance, and facilitate social integration. Finally, children will have a stable environment for growth
