Occupiers strengthen defense of Kerch bridge: install new towers with air defense systems. PHOTO

In the temporarily occupied Crimea, Russian invaders are strengthening the defence of the Kerch Bridge with additional towers with air defence systems.

According to Censor.NET, this was reported by the Centre for Investigative Journalism.

"The first discovered towers consist of two parts, of which the inner one is a transformer tower with a ladder, and the outer one is a metal frame that secures and holds the entire structure, on top of which is a combat module of the Pantsyr-S1M anti-aircraft missile and gun system," the statement said.

The first such towers were spotted back in September, near the island of Tuzla. They were probably installed there in the middle of the same month.

Journalists noticed the new towers in late November. They are being built on the 30th span from the side of the bridge arch. Similar 30 towers stand near the bridge from the Kerch side.

According to the Centre for Investigative Journalism, the invaders began building a layered defence system for the bridge in the Kerch Strait in May 2024. Then they began installing barges and booms to protect the bridge's piers from attacks by maritime drones.

The occupiers have also installed parallel anti-drone bridges on both sides and set up tetrapods and metal "hedgehogs" in the sea.
