Coordinated strikes on Kyiv and carried out sabotage in Odesa region: SSU detains Russian agents. PHOTOS

An agent group of the Russian GRU, which was involved in adjusting strikes on Kyiv and sabotage in southern Ukraine, has been exposed.

This was reported by the SSU press service, Censor.NET informs.

The cell consisted of four people:

  • Two of them are direct agents and executors of "orders";
  • one was a "liaison" through whom the agents received instructions;
  • the other is the direct supervisor of the perpetrators, a career officer of the Russian GRU, Maxim Chachin.

The agents were detained in February 2025. Since then, comprehensive measures have been taken to identify other members of the hostile cell and document their contacts.

"An employee of the russian gru involved in subversive activities a former lecturer at a well-known Kyiv university, who moved to russia in 2021 and began to cooperate with the occupiers. After the outbreak of full-scale war, the professor put her former student, a 27-year-old Kyiv resident who supported russia's armed aggression, in direct agent contact with the enemy.

The woman then introduced him to another resident of the capital of Ukraine who joined the agent group. He was a 40-year-old ex-military man who had information about the locations of certain units of the Defence Forces. Together, they went around the relevant locations, marked them on Google maps and sent them to the curator to prepare missile and drone attacks in Kyiv," they said.

Later, the agents moved to Odesa, where they "went to ground" and then set fire to two mobile phone towers and several power substations on the enemy's orders.

They were also preparing to commit terrorist acts using improvised explosive devices. The SSU managed to prevent this.

The SSU has sent to court an indictment against both agents under several articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine:

  • Paras 2, Art. 28, Art. 111 (high treason committed by prior conspiracy by a group of persons under martial law);
  • Paras 2, Art. 28, Art. 113 (sabotage committed by prior conspiracy by a group of persons under martial law);
  • Part 2, Art. 194-1 (intentional damage to electric power facilities);
  • Part 2, Art. 28, Part 1 Art. 263 (unlawful handling of weapons, ammunition or explosives by prior conspiracy by a group of persons).

The criminals are in custody. They face life imprisonment with confiscation of property. A notice of suspicion is also being prepared against the curator of these agents from Russia's GRU and their "liaison".
