Following a fatal traffic accident in Rivne region, two engineers responsible for maintaining and monitoring the emergency site have been notified of suspicion.
This was reported by the Office of the Prosecutor General, according to Censor.NET.
Details
On 31 July 2023, in the village of Horodets in Rivne region, a 39-year-old female driver from Kyiv region, driving a Landmark car, lost control of the vehicle while driving around a pothole in the road surface - the car overturned and caught fire.
Three passengers, including a 13-year-old girl, were killed in the accident. Another pregnant woman lost her child.
"Experts have determined that the cause of the tragedy was the poor condition of the road - the subsidence should have been repaired or marked with warning signs," the report said.
Suspicions
Prosecutors have notified two officials responsible for the maintenance and control of the emergency site of their suspicion:
- An engineer at a private company responsible for the road is charged with violating road safety rules during road maintenance, which resulted in the death of people (Article 288 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
- The engineer of the state service responsible for monitoring the condition of the road has been charged with official negligence, which led to the death of people (Part 3 of Article 367 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
