A drone struck the chimney of a power station in the Estonian village of Auvere.

This was reported by ERR, according to Censor.NET.

Details

It happened on 25 March at 3:43 am. No one was injured as a result of the incident.

The publication notes that the drone strayed off course and entered Estonian airspace from Russian airspace.

"According to the information currently available, the drone was not targeting Estonia. Initial measures are being taken, and the investigation will clarify the exact circumstances," said Prosecutor General Astrid Aasi.

Preliminary reports indicate that the power station did not sustain any direct damage, and the incident will not affect Estonia’s power grid.

On the evening of 25 March and during the night of 26 March, Ukraine carried out drone strikes on the port of Ust-Luga and targets in the Leningrad region.

"This is a consequence of Russia’s full-scale war of aggression. It can be assumed that similar incidents will recur," said Margus Pallonen, Director General of the Security Police.

What led up to this?

  • On the night of 23 March, an unknown drone exploded in the Varėna district of Lithuania, crashing into a lake near the village of Lavisas. The country’s military suggested that the drone may have flown in from Belarus.
  • Subsequently, Prime Minister Ruginiene confirmed that the drone was Ukrainian and had gone off course.
  • A drone also crashed on Latvian territory.
