Zelenskyy on strike on Lutsk: We are proposing Easter truce, and Russia’s response is ’Shaheds’. PHOTOS

Firefighters are currently working to extinguish a fire in Lutsk following an overnight attack by Russian ‘Shaheds’.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has reported this on his Telegram channel, according to Censor.NET.

Details

According to the head of state, purely civilian targets were hit: the Russians destroyed food warehouses and a Nova Poshta terminal. A residential building was also damaged. All necessary resources from Ukraine’s State Emergency Service and municipal services have already been deployed to deal with the aftermath of this attack.

He noted that the Dnipropetrovsk, Zhytomyr, Poltava, Odesa, Kharkiv, and Khmelnytskyi regions were also under Russian attack last night.

"And there are still ‘Shaheds’ in our skies. In total, Russia deployed 339 drones against Ukraine last night, and around 200 of them were ‘Shaheds’," Zelenskyy noted.

A busy day of diplomacy

He also emphasised that today will be a rather busy diplomatic day – many meetings are already scheduled, and this night-time attack is effectively Russia’s response to diplomatic efforts.

"We proposed a ceasefire for Easter – in response, we receive ‘Shaheds’. We also proposed a ceasefire specifically regarding energy infrastructure – the Russians are ignoring this and are once again attempting to target our substations and transformers. Ukraine is working with partners to create more joint opportunities to protect lives, whilst Russia continues to drag out the war in Europe and is openly using its intelligence to help the Iranian regime fuel the war in the Middle East and the Gulf," the statement reads.

Zelenskyy also noted that it is Russia that poses a global threat, and it is Russia’s disregard for life and peace that stands in the way of any diplomacy.

"I am grateful to everyone who supports our defence of life, and to everyone who ensures the enforcement of sanctions against Russia for the war. The higher our rate of shooting down Russian drones and missiles, and the greater the restrictions on Russian oil, Russian trade, and Russian production, the sooner security will be guaranteed and peace established," he concluded.
