"Mr Humeniuk is a suspect in a serious crime committed in 2015, which resulted in the deaths of four NGU servicemen. Today he was brought to another court hearing. This has been going on for 8 years. After this hearing, 2 hours after it started, Mr Humeniuk first locked himself in the toilet. Then he opened the door and threw an explosive device at the guards.
After that, there were most likely two such explosions, before that. After that, he tried to leave the courtroom, and the convoy stopped him with a shot in the air. He barricaded himself in the room, after which KORD officers tried to unblock him in the room. They tried to negotiate, but he did not cooperate. After the door was unblocked, another dangerous object was thrown at the police officers. Their lives were saved by the shields that were in front of them," he said.
The law enforcement officers sustained injuries to their lower limbs. Their lives are not in danger.
"Preliminary, Humeniuk himself was killed by an explosive device. Explosive experts are now working at the site," Klymenko added.
