"Time of those who sanctify terror is over," Zelenskyy on UOC-MP. VIDEO

President Zelenskyy said that Ukraine would continue its dialogue with the church and religious communities, but that the UOC-MP was no longer part of this process, as its influence had ended.

According to Censor.NET, this was stated by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in the Verkhovna Rada.

According to Zelenskyy, Ukraine retains a secular character of state institutions. Therefore, there is a partnership between the state, church and religious communities. And this partnership needs to be developed.

He noted that Ukraine has an important platform for cooperation between the state and religious organisations, the Council of Churches and Religious Organisations, which serves as the basis for establishing a dialogue between the government and religious communities in the country.

Zelenskyy explained that this dialogue can identify models of greater cooperation that can strengthen Ukraine and its people, promote spiritual independence and social work in the country.

"Of course, we are not talking about the Moscow Church. The time of those who sanctify terror is over," the president said.

As reported, on 20 August, the Verkhovna Rada adopted in the second reading the draft law "On Amendments to Certain Laws of Ukraine on the Activities of Religious Organisations in Ukraine", which bans the activities of religious organisations associated with the Russian Federation.

On 24 August, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed a law banning the activities of religious organisations associated with the Russian Federation in Ukraine.
