President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has instructed the security forces to carry out a prompt investigation into the explosion at a Defence Forces depot in Myla, in the Kyiv region.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy wrote about this on his Telegram channel, according to Censor.NET.

Zelenskyy’s reaction

According to him, since yesterday evening and throughout today, he has been receiving reports on the situation in the Kyiv region – specifically in the village of Myla in the Bucha district, where an explosion occurred following a Russian strike.

"A horrific situation, horrific negligence on the part of those who stored explosive materials right next to people. Following the incident in Vyshneve, another such crime is absolutely unacceptable. I expect the details to be made public promptly. The first strike hit an ammunition storage facility that definitely should not have been there – a Defence Forces depot. The detonation of shells, mines, other ammunition and drones. The scale is significant," the head of state noted.

Zelenskyy also noted that he had already held discussions with the Prosecutor General, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Security Service of Ukraine and the Commander-in-Chief – they have everything necessary for the investigation.

"I would like to express my special thanks to everyone who is on the ground there and in other areas hit by Russian strikes, doing everything they can to help and save people," he concluded.

What led up to it

It was previously reported that on the evening of 28 August, storage facilities caught fire following an enemy attack in the Bucha district. The fire was accompanied by explosions. Emergency services are working at the scene.
Prior to this, Oleksii Biloshitskyi, Head of the Patrol Police Department, reported that traffic had been closed to all vehicles on the M-06 Kyiv–Chop motorway in the Kyiv region. The restrictions are in place from the 15th to the 32nd kilometre in both directions.
Prime Minister Serhii Koretskyi stated that the Minister of Internal Affairs and the Head of the State Emergency Service had reported on an enemy strike in the Bucha district of the Kyiv region, where a fire broke out following the strike, leading to subsequent explosions. He said that the horrific tragedy in Vyshneve had not served as a lesson.
The Office of the Prosecutor General has launched an investigation into allegations of waging an aggressive war and possible professional negligence in connection with the consequences of the enemy attack in the Bucha district of the Kyiv region.
As of 11.30 on 29 August, 27 people are known to have died and over 40 have been injured. Around 50 houses have been damaged.
In addition, it was reported that Taras Didych, the head of the Dmytrivka community, had been killed.
