Shmyhal noted that Japan is among the leaders in supporting Ukraine. The total amount of assistance has already reached $12.1 billion.

"Supporting the energy sector is especially important for us. We are grateful for the energy equipment transferred and look forward to further assistance. Another key area of cooperation is humanitarian demining," the Prime Minister said.

The meeting also focused on strengthening sanctions pressure on Russia.

"We appreciate the direct budgetary support from Japan, in particular the intention to allocate $3 billion from the use of frozen Russian assets under the G7 initiative," the Prime Minister said.

In his turn, Iwai assured that Japan will do "everything to restore" Ukraine through the support of the public and private sectors.
