Ukraine will not make any deals with Russia in exchange for territories - Sybiha
Ukraine will not make any deals with Moscow in exchange for territories. There is no alternative to "peace through strength".
This was stated by Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha at a hearing at the Helsinki Commission of the US Congress, "Voice of America" reports, Censor.NET informs.
"Ukraine will not accept any proposals that involve a compromise on our sovereignty or territorial integrity. We will not accept any initiatives developed without our participation... We will not accept land-for-peace deals," the Foreign Minister said.
According to the Minister, this would mean leaving millions of people in the hands of the aggressor, which would lead to genocide, torture and oppression.
"Rewarding Russia with territorial gains will not restore peace, but will provoke further aggression. This is appeasement, not peace. Appeasement has never worked in the past and it will not work now," Sybiha stressed.
The Minister also mentioned the Kremlin's new nuclear threats.
Sybiha believes that Russia's updated nuclear doctrine and rhetoric about the use of nuclear weapons are nothing more than blackmail.
Earlier, Defence Minister Rustem Umerov said that Ukraine is fighting to liberate all its territories seized by Russia over the past decade.
