Case of "servant of people" Kormyshkina on illegal enrichment: MP’s husband is suspected

Kormyshkina’s case

In the case of illegal enrichment of Ukrainian MP Iryna Kormyshkina, another person has been served with a notice of suspicion - her husband.

This was reported by the Specialised Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office, Censor.NET informs.

"On 23 January 2025, with the approval of the SAPO prosecutor, a NABU detective served a notice of suspicion of legalisation of the proceeds of crime and declaration of false information on a former deputy of the regional council, the husband of the MP," the statement said.

Thus, it was established that in 2021-2022, the MP acquired ownership of funds in the amount of more than UAH 20 million, which exceeded her official income and savings for this period. Subsequently, the then-deputy of the regional council and the MP's civilian husband, in order to conceal the source of such property and make it look legitimate, made a number of transactions and financial transactions with the said funds.

According to the SAPO, such actions made it possible to purchase a house near Odesa through a legal entity, where the couple lived after acquiring ownership.

In addition, like his wife, the man did not disclose information about this house in his 2023 declaration.

The person's actions were classified under Part 2 of Art. 209, Part 2 of Art. 366-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which provide for a sentence of up to eight years in prison with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for up to three years, with confiscation of property.

It is worth noting that the prosecutor's office did not name the suspect, but the circumstances point to MP Iryna Kormyshkina from the "Servant of the People" faction.

The case of the "servant of the people" Kormyshkina

As a reminder, in November 2022, a case was opened against Kormyshkina, a "servant of the people" who received UAH 20 million and a valuable watch. As reported at the time, the MP received UAH 14.4 million as a gift. Prior to that, she received another UAH 5.3 million and a Swiss watch worth UAH 310,000 inlaid with 11 white diamonds. The donor was her father, but open data does not show that he had no official income of this amount.

On 17 October 2024, the SAPO served the MP with a notice of suspicion.

On 23 October 2024, the HACC imposed a measure of restraint in the form of a personal guarantee. The guarantors were the head of the "Servant of the People" faction, David Arakhamia, and the head of the Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration, Vitalii Kim.
