Trump is ready to accept any outcome of Ukraine’s elections, even "pro-Russian puppet" - Fox News

Elections in Ukraine: U.S. and Russia see it as key to peace

Russian dictator Vladimir Putin believes that a "puppet president" is likely to be elected in Ukraine. He is supported by American leader Donald Trump.

According to Censor.NET, this was reported by Fox News journalist Jackie Heinrich, citing diplomatic sources.

The interlocutors told the journalist that both Moscow and Washington consider holding new elections in Ukraine "a key condition for the success" of the settlement process.

At the same time, the journalist adds, this is the most controversial point, since Russia does not hold fair elections, and Ukrainians are against the prospect of installing a pro-Russian puppet president.

Later, Heinrich wrote that a US source familiar with the negotiations softened the statement on elections, saying that "it could be part of future talks, but not today."

It is also noted that Russian dictator Putin estimates the probability of electing a pro-Russian president as quite high and is convinced that any candidate, with the exception of Zelenskyy, "will be more flexible and more ready to negotiate and make concessions."

They also added that Trump is allegedly ready to accept any election result, including the election of a pro-Russian puppet candidate, as he, like Putin, considers the possibility of Zelenskyy's re-election low.

Both Trump and Putin see Zelenskyy's re-election chances as low, the Fox News correspondent added, citing her interlocutors in diplomatic circles.

Earlier, Keith Kellogg said that the United States wants Ukraine to hold presidential and parliamentary elections after a possible ceasefire agreement is concluded.

Ukraine's Ambassador to the United States Oksana Markarova said that the United States had not discussed with the Ukrainian side the need to hold elections in the country by the end of 2025.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that there can be no elections in Ukraine during martial law. To do this, the Constitution and legislation must be changed.

US President Donald Trump's Special Representative for Ukraine and Russia, Keith Kellogg, called it a sign of a healthy democracy that elections can be held in a country even during a war. However, Kyiv should not hold them right now.
