Russia wants to change power in Ukraine through elections to resume war with triple force – Bloomberg

Russia wants elections in Ukraine and a change of government

Russia wants to split up Ukrainian politicians in the event of presidential elections in order to resume attacks with triple force afterwards.

According to Censor.NET, Bloomberg reports this with reference to Ukrainian special services.

According to them, Russia's key goal is to quarrel all Ukrainian politicians with each other if the vote takes place, and then resume the war with triple force after the change of power.

It is emphasized that the elections are not only difficult to organize and hold in a time of war, but they contradict the martial law declared after Russia's invasion.

Elections could theoretically take place, but only if the United States and other allies deploy their troops after the ceasefire and patrol the front line, which is something Trump has ruled out, the Bloomberg source said.

"An additional risk is that even the prospect of removing Zelenskyy may not be enough for Trump," the agency adds.

Trump's statements about Zelenskyy's rating

The day before, Trump said that elections should be held in Ukraine, as Zelenskyy's approval rating had fallen to 4%.

As of the first half of February 2025, 57% of Ukrainians trust President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, while 37% do not, according to a KIIS survey.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy called the statements about his 4% rating disinformation.

Earlier, US President Donald Trump called Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelenskyy a "dictator without elections" because he allegedly convinced America to "spend $350 billion on the war".

The Economist writes that President Volodymyr Zelenskyy remains the most popular Ukrainian politician, but may lose the election to Valerii Zaluzhnyi if he runs.
