Russia organized terrorist attack in Ivano-Frankivsk, recruiting two minors – SSU. VIDEO&PHOTOS
Russia carried out a terrorist attack on 11 March 2025 in the centre of Ivano-Frankivsk.
This was reported by the press service of the SSU, Censor.NET reports.
"In the evening of that day, the Russian secret service blew up two of its own agents who were carrying an improvised explosive device (IED) near the railway station.
According to the investigation, the enemy's accomplices were two local minors aged 15 and 17, who were recruited by Russia through telegram channels in search of "easy money" and involved in criminal activities. As a result of the incident, the 17-year-old attacker died on the spot, and his 15-year-old accomplice was hospitalised with serious injuries," the statement said.
The minors studied at colleges and were friends.
The Russians promised them money. Following the instructions of the Russian handler, they made improvised explosives and two IEDs disguised as thermoses. For conspiracy purposes, the defendants did this in an apartment rented for the money of the curator in a high-rise building near the railway station.
They equipped both explosive devices with remote-controlled detonators and additional lethal elements in the form of metal nuts. After that, following instructions from their Russian handler, the perpetrators armed both devices, ready for detonation.
At around 6:30 p.m. on March 11, they were on their way to a designated location to plant one of the bombs. Along the way, Russian intelligence, which was remotely tracking their movements via GPS, detonated the IED hidden in their bag. In addition to the minors, two random passersby were injured by the blast wave.
At the same time, the occupiers remotely detonated the second explosive device left in a rented apartment," the SSU reported.
A notice of suspicion has been prepared to the 15-year-old under several articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine:
- p. 5, Art. 27, Art. 258, para. 3 (aiding and abetting a terrorist act that resulted in the death of a person);
- p. 2 of Art. 263-1 (illegal manufacture of explosives and explosive devices by prior conspiracy).
The articles provide for life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
The issue of qualification of the actions of two 15-year-old girls who were in the same company as the defendants during the preparation of the terrorist attack is also being resolved.
