Marine Le Pen sentenced to 4 years in France

The leader of the National Front, Marine Le Pen, was sentenced to four years in prison in France - two years suspended and two years of arrest with an electronic bracelet.

This is reported by BFMTV, Censor.NET reports.

The politician was also banned from participating in elections for 5 years, which will not allow her to run in the 2027 presidential election.

Le Pen must pay a 100 thousand euro fine.

She left the courtroom before the verdict was announced.

As a reminder, in 2022, the French prosecutor's office considered a report from the European Union Anti-Fraud Office (OLAF), which accused Le Pen and members of her party of misusing more than 140,000 euros.

Marine Le Pen about Ukraine

In 2022, after the full-scale invasion, Le Pen said that she still considered the occupied Crimea to be Russian and did not regret the ban on visiting Ukraine because of her position.

She also stated that she would seek to cancel the authorization for Ukraine to launch long-range weapons strikes on Russian territory.

In March 2024, Le Pen condemned Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
