US needs to be informed in advance in order to adjust its policy – Rubio on Russia’s preparations for new large-scale offensive

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio commented on reports that Russia is preparing troops for a new large-scale offensive against Ukraine in 2025.
He said this during a press conference after a meeting of NATO ministers broadcast by Suspilne, Censor.NET reports.
Rubio noted that the United States must understand whether Russia is committed to peace or not in order to adjust its policy.
"If we wake up tomorrow and see that the Russians are launching some kind of offensive, then it will become clear whether they want peace or not. If not, we need to know this in advance to adjust our policy," he said.
The Secretary of State also noted that the United States is monitoring Russia's actions and will be able to assess whether the Kremlin is really ready for peace in the coming weeks.
Earlier, it was reported that Russian dictator Vladimir Putin signed a decree on the spring conscription to the Russian army. As part of the draft, the Kremlin plans to recruit 160,000 Russians.
At the end of March 2025, The Associated Press reported that Russian troops were preparing to launch a new military offensive in the coming weeks to maximize pressure on Ukraine and strengthen the Kremlin's negotiating position in ceasefire talks.
The commander of the 1st Assault Battalion of the Third Assault Brigade, Vladimir Fokin, said that Russian occupation forces are preparing to launch a new offensive. Their units have been training for over a month.
