Germany will soon transfer new IRIS-T systems to Ukraine, - Ambassador Thoms

Germany has already transferred nine IRIS-T air defence systems to Ukraine and expects to deliver new complexes in the near future.
This was announced by the new German Ambassador to Ukraine, Heiko Thoms, in an interview with Suspilne, according to Censor.NET.
"We have already delivered nine IRIS-T systems, as far as I know, and more new IRIS-T systems are expected to be delivered in the near future," the ambassador said.
Thoms noted that air defence is critically important and that Germany remains Ukraine's largest partner in the field of air defence, while acknowledging that this assistance is still insufficient.
The ambassador also recalled that at the end of 2025, Germany transferred two additional Patriot systems to Ukraine and continues to supply ammunition for air defence systems.
"I know that this is still not enough. As I said, I also live here and understand the situation, I know the realities. But we are doing everything we can and making every effort to support Ukraine - both through direct assistance to the energy sector and through the provision of air defence systems," said Thoms.
Patriot from Germany
- We would like to remind you that on 2 November, it was reported that Ukraine's air defence had been strengthened with Patriot anti-aircraft missile systems from Germany.
