The police in Sweden have been placed on high alert in anticipation of a large-scale attack on the power grid.
This was reported by Censor.NET, citing materials from Swedish broadcaster TV4.
According to available information, the threat concerns not only Sweden but also other countries in Northern Europe. The authorities consider the risks to be serious and are taking preventive measures to protect critical infrastructure.
Security measures and infrastructure control
As part of the response, several police units have been placed on alert. The Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency has also switched to enhanced operational mode.
Law enforcement agencies have taken control of critical infrastructure facilities, particularly those that ensure the functioning of the power grid. Details of the operations are not being disclosed for security reasons.
According to journalists, information about a possible attack came from an unknown person. There is speculation that it may be linked to a foreign country.
"The threat is being taken very seriously. The services are taking proactive measures to minimize the possible consequences," the statement said.
Potential risks for Northern Europe
According to sources, a potential attack could occur in the near future. At the same time, the authorities have not specified what kind of scenario they are referring to — a cyberattack or physical interference with the operation of facilities.
The energy infrastructure of Northern European countries is considered strategically important. Therefore, law enforcement agencies coordinate their actions to prevent the destabilization of the system.
The Swedish side emphasizes that the situation is under control and urges citizens to remain calm.
