Russia strikes Sumy with KABs and UAVs: 4 dead, including a 5-year-old girl, 27 injured (updated). PHOTOS
The city of Sumy has been under a massive attack by Russian UAVs and KABs throughout July 3.

"Sumy. The regional center is under a massive attack by Russian UAVs and KAB guided aerial bombs. There have been hits to civilian infrastructure. Significant damage has been recorded in the residential sector," said the head of the regional military administration, Oleh Hryhorov.
Civilians have been injured. Preliminary reports indicate that children are among the injured. A rescue operation is ongoing.
The local outlet Kordon.Media reports that an apartment building has been damaged, more than 10 people have been injured, and there are fatalities. The information requires official confirmation.
Update
The Regional Military Administration clarified that there was an airstrike involving six bombs; at least three people are known to have been killed as a result of the strike on one of Sumy’s central streets. The strike hit a high-rise building, a store, and a road. There were many people at the scene, including children.
- The injured are being transported to hospitals. A 13-year-old child is in critical condition. Medical personnel are providing all necessary care to the victims. The full extent of the attack’s consequences is still being determined.
As of 11:00 p.m., there were already four fatalities, Grigorov reported. The Russian strike claimed the lives of three adults and a child
"Twenty people have already been hospitalized. Half of them have serious injuries, and some are in surgery. Thanks to the timely medical assistance provided, the lives of many of the victims were saved. We are grateful to all emergency services, medical personnel, and the caring residents of Sumy who helped people in the first minutes after the strike. According to preliminary reports, three minors are among the victims," the statement reads.
As of 11:58 p.m., 22 people are known to have been injured as a result of a KAB strike on a residential area in Sumy, including three children. This was reported by Serhii Kryvosheyenko, head of the Municipal Administration.
Doctors say the 16-year-old girl and many other wounded people brought to hospitals are in serious condition.
Earlier reports indicated that four people had died, including one child.
A large number of high-rise residential buildings have been damaged.
Update
At 12:45 a.m., Grigorov reported that 27 people, including 7 children, were injured as a result of the enemy attack.
"At the hospital, medical staff managed to resuscitate a man who had suffered cardiac arrest. He is currently in critical condition. A young woman is also in extremely serious condition. Doctors are fighting to save the victims' lives," the statement said.
Medical personnel tried to save a 5-year-old girl at the site of the Russian strike. Unfortunately, their resuscitation efforts were unsuccessful—the child died.
Her mother—a 34-year-old woman—was killed alongside her. The woman’s older daughter is also in the hospital. Her injuries are moderate. The Russians also killed a 61-year-old man.

Round-the-clock attacks on Sumy and the region
- As a reminder, on July 2, Russian troops launched a strike with a KAB missile on an educational and recreational complex in Sumy, where summer programs for children were being held.
- On July 1, the Russians attacked civilian infrastructure in Sumy, specifically striking a car at a gas station. Three people were injured in the strike, and another woman was wounded in a separate incident during the attack.
