Zelenskyy reacted to night-time strikes on Ukraine: Russia is signalling its readiness to escalate war. PHOTOS
On the night of 21 September, Russian forces carried out strikes on ten regions of Ukraine, including a brutal shelling of Zaporizhzhia and an attack on the Kharkiv region, where a civilian woman was killed.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported this on his Telegram channel, according to Censor.NET.
The enemy attacked 10 regions
"There has been very heavy, targeted Russian shelling of Zaporizhzhia since the evening. Nine-storey residential blocks, a university building, a shopping centre and a boiler house have been damaged. As of now, five people are known to have been injured, and some residents have been evacuated. In Lozova, in the Kharkiv region, a woman was killed by a drone strike. In total, during the evening and overnight, the Russians carried out strikes on ten of our regions," the head of state noted.
According to him, Russia is not scaling back its escalatory actions and is sending many signals of its readiness to expand the war. All this is happening against the backdrop of global stability already having been shattered by this war.
"We must continue to put pressure on the aggressor to end this war. Every response and every far-reaching sanction is pressure that really works, and the world is feeling it. But at the same time, diplomacy must continue. At the UN General Assembly, we will discuss how to achieve peace through joint efforts. This is the main task that all leaders must address. Thank you to everyone who is helping," Zelenskyy concluded.
What led up to this?
- It was previously reported that Russia attacked Zaporizhzhia overnight: high-rise buildings, a shopping centre and an educational institution were damaged, and there were casualties.
- In the Kyiv region, emergency services dealt with the aftermath of enemy attacks. Fires broke out in the Bucha and Fastiv districts.
- Russian troops also attacked a business in the Kropyvnytskyi district of the Kirovohrad region overnight.
- In the Odesa region, warehouses belonging to a supermarket chain were on fire following strikes by the Russian Federation.
