Russian agents detained who detonated explosive device near Zhytomyr district police department. Law enforcement officer was injured - SSU. VIDEO&PHOTOS
The Security Service and the National Police detained 5 Russian agents who committed a terrorist attack in the central part of Zhytomyr on 20 November this year. The explosion injured one law enforcement officer who was at the scene.
This was reported by Censor.NET with reference to the SSU press centre.
According to the case, the offenders acted on the orders of the Russian special services, which recruited them through Telegram channels in search of "quick money".
Explosives were planted near the police station
According to the SSU, to commit the terrorist attack, the offenders remotely detonated an improvised explosive device near the building of the local police district office.
On the instructions of the Russian handlers, they stuffed the explosives with nails and disguised them in a thermos, and detonated them "remotely" using a mobile phone.
At the same time, the agents installed hidden video cameras at the scene, which recorded the explosion in real time.
Apprehension of offenders
All five terrorists, who acted separately from each other, were detained in hot pursuit as a result of a special operation in the regional centre. Among them was a 46-year-old Kharkiv resident who had twice served a sentence for robbery and burglary.
Following the instructions of the occupiers, the repeat offender bought explosive components, which he then hid in a pre-arranged cache.
Further, the hostile tasks were carried out by Zhytomyr residents aged 15, 16, 18 and 20. Two of them took these "components" from the cache and, according to the schemes provided to them, made an explosive device in a rented apartment.
The other two accomplices installed video cameras near the state institution, planted explosives there and detonated them.
During the searches, the SІU seized components of an explosive device, SIM cards and mobile phones with evidence of the crime.
The SSU investigators served them suspicion notices under Part 2 of Article 258 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (terrorist act committed by prior conspiracy).
The offenders are in custody. They face up to 12 years in prison with confiscation of property.
