A farewell ceremony for activist Demian Hanul, who was killed on 14 March 2025, was held in Shevchenko Park in Odesa.

The funeral service for Demian Hanul was held at the Cathedral of the Nativity of the OCU. Hundreds of people gathered there.
"I have many memories of him. He was a man who had a very good sense of humour. He believed in what he was doing and said everything he thought. He didn't care about negative comments, he was very strong in spirit," said Svitlana, an acquaintance of Ganul's.
A friend of the deceased said that Hanul did not rule out that his life was in danger.
"He has been threatened before, not long ago he was attacked. This attack was connected to the same brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, and I don't believe in coincidence. But he assessed all the risks, and he took it for granted. He was not afraid," he said.
The murder of Demian Hanul
On 14 March 2025, in the Prymorskyi district of Odesa, an unknown person killed activist Demian Hanul by shooting him.
Subsequently, law enforcement officers detained a suspect in the murder of activist Demian Hanul, which took place today, 14 March. President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy commented on the detention of the murder suspect.
Ground Forces said that the suspect in Hanul's murder was a deserter.
The suspect in Hanul's murder was taken into custody without bail.
