A delegation from France’s Ministry of the Armed Forces and Veterans Affairs, led by Minister Catherine Vautrin, visited combat positions of the anti-aircraft missile troops of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Together with Ukraine’s Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov, she familiarized herself with the work of Ukraine’s air defense during the repelling of a massive Russian attack.

This was reported by the Ministry of Defence, according to Censor.NET.

Together with the Air Force command, the sides went to the positions of air defense units. The visit took place during another massive missile-and-drone strike on critical infrastructure facilities. The French delegation saw firsthand the intensity of the threats Ukraine faces every day.

Russia is systematically attacking energy and civilian infrastructure with missiles and drones. Ukraine is countering these attacks by continuously strengthening its air defense system and developing its own defense technologies.

While at the positions, the French side was shown the work of Ukrainian service members and the weapons already being used to protect the sky, including SAMP/T systems, Mirage 2000 fighter jets, and Mistral systems.

Minister Catherine Vautrin personally spoke with Ukrainian military personnel.

Ukraine continues to increase the production of various types of drones and develop innovative solutions in the military sphere. One of the promising areas is the development of a missile programme in cooperation with international partners.

As Mykhailo Fedorov noted, despite sanctions pressure, Russia retains its capacity to produce missiles and drones. In these conditions, expanding joint production and defence cooperation with partners is critical to strengthening Ukraine's defence capabilities and European security.

The head of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defence thanked France for its consistent support, which helps to protect Ukrainian skies and save lives every day.
