On Wednesday, 1 April, fragments of a drone of unknown origin were discovered in Latvia.
This was reported by Censor.NET, citing LSM.
UAV debris found
The drone debris was found in the Silmal parish of the Rezekne district by a local resident. He reported the discovery to the police.
Police are currently at the scene. The circumstances of the incident are being investigated.
The origin of the drone has not yet been established.
Latvian Defence Minister Andris Spruds has stated that the drone debris is not explosive and poses no threat to the public.
Drone crashes in Latvia
- As a reminder, on the morning of 25 March, the Latvian Air Force recorded a violation of the country’s airspace by an unidentified drone that had flown in from Russian territory.
- Subsequently, Prime Minister Ruginene confirmed that the drone was Ukrainian and had strayed off course.
- It is known that since the evening of 30 March, several incidents involving drones have been recorded. An unidentified drone was detected near the Latvian border with Russia. Meanwhile, a ‘Shahed’ strike drone was detected flying over Moldova.
