Farewell ceremony for 25-year-old Hospitallers paramedic Eva Reuter held in Kyiv. PHOTOS
A farewell ceremony for Eva Reuter, a 25-year-old paramedic with the Hospitallers Medical Battalion (call signs Planochka and Alice), was held in Kyiv on September 2. She was killed on the night of August 1 during a second Russian strike after arriving at the scene of the attack to help the wounded.

Farewell ceremony
Dozens of people attended the farewell ceremony for Eva Reuter, including relatives, friends and fellow soldiers. They brought flowers, blue-and-yellow flags and soft toys associated with Eva, as her family had requested the day before.
Following the farewell ceremony at St Michael’s Cathedral, the procession headed to Independence Square. Her memory was honoured with a minute of silence.
"Eva took on everything the front needed and did so with complete selflessness. Everyone who worked with her knows that she was tireless, caring and had a keen sense of justice. She could not pass by someone else’s suffering. We have lost a person we could rely on for anything, at any moment. We remember her as she was," said Yuliia Shevchuk, head of the Hospitallers Charitable Foundation.
Eva Reuter was buried at Berkovetske Cemetery.
More about Eva
- Eva Reuter joined the Hospitallers in November 2022. Together with the medical battalion, she evacuated wounded people from combat zones, worked at stabilisation points and counselled military personnel. She also spent more than a year serving in the strike unmanned aerial systems company of the 25th Separate Airborne Brigade.
- Before her service, Eva was an artist and art historian. She earned a bachelor’s degree from the National Academy of Fine Arts and Architecture, worked in game development and as a tattoo artist. She also participated in human rights and environmental initiatives.
- According to her friend Sonia, Eva also helped recruit foreigners to Ukraine’s Defence Forces and worked with drones.
Missile attack on Kyiv on August 1
- On the night of August 1, Russian troops launched a massive strike on Kyiv. Residential buildings, warehouses, vehicles and other civilian infrastructure were damaged in the attack.
- Nine people were killed, and another 33 were injured in the attack. Eva Reuter was accompanied in the medical crew by National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy student and volunteer Vitalina Yarovenko.
