People’s Hero of Ukraine Major General Mykhailo Drapatyi: "I thought I’d serve somewhere on staff of some brigade. That was ceiling" This interview was recorded on 8 February 2022 at volunteer Da Vinci’s base in Novohradivka for a book about the People’s Heroes. It has never been published anywhere else. At the time, anticipating a full-scale offensive, Mykhailo Vasylovych and I spoke about his path in the war since 2014, the situations in which he saved, without exaggeration, hundreds of people by leading them out of encirclement, and about his family and Ukraine.
